I've been involved in the technology, media, and live events industries for over 30 years (20 of those years include some sort of digital media element ) and I have to say that sometimes, I'm more confused than ever. But apparently, in the midst of this confusion, I'm starting to understand and believe that we are experiencing some disruptive initiatives where both worlds (digital and live) can interact and generate value like never before with events. And it's happening faster than any of us could imagine. After many years producing and organizing in-person live events (I stopped counting at 500 events), I started investing (time and money) in digital media technology, marketing and technology startups for live events. My thesis, which you will read next, was written in 2012, where the live events industry was finally ready for significant changes and digital technologies would have great opportunities to be part of many of these changes.

Binance App Users Data other industries, the live events industry is big enough to be very attractive to smart entrepreneurs to find smart solutions to many problems and inefficiencies and I believe I could be the fortunate one to help some of these guys and create great solutions that could become successful companies. In 2017 I wrote the book The Face of Digital as a way of trying to organize some thoughts on key technologies affecting the live events sector, and as part of our research we discussed some key challenges and opportunities facing live event organizers. , sponsors, exhibitors and visitors may face in the near future. To be 100% clear about this: I am convinced that the live events industry will not die but will continue to grow and evolve. But I'm also sure that a big change will happen and it will be bigger and more dramatic than any other change we've seen in the past.

Why do I think this? The trade show and conference industry continues to grow on a global basis, but not at the same incredible rates we have seen in the past. Based on many industry reports from CEIR and UFI, which are recognized national and global sources for industry statistics, we should see growth around 2% worldwide and, of course, some specific markets and organizers will continue to grow at a healthy double-digit pace, but these situations will increasingly be the exception rather than the rule. The growth of the live events market Within this modest industry growth, technology and digital revenues in live events continue to grow at 25% annually and are beginning to generate exciting new revenue streams for event organizers . They also generate interesting economic efficiencies in different areas of the business and this is happening at various live events such as trade shows and conferences .
