Add custom script to helper file in Rails
How do I add a custom script to a helper file in Rails? Here is what I'm trying to do:
My view has a dropdown that shows the user profiles. It has a range of years and in order to show the year, I need to include a helper file from the /helpers directory. This is the current view code:
'experience-select' %>
'Select a Year' %>
If I add a helper file that contains
'Select a Year' %>
It works, but I don't want to add that in all my view files. Is there a way to add it in the helper file?
A:
You can define a module that does that and import it in any view you want, something like this:
module YearsHelper
def select_year
select_tag :experience, options_for_select(user.experience), :prompt => 'Select a Year'
end
end
Then you can call it as a method of any object, in your view, like this:
select_year
You can read more about modules here:
