◆ MetaInstaller is a macro based on "JclBDE" and "FastCode".The major goal of this work is to study the control of cardiac metabolism. We will focus on the "second tier" regulatory processes by which the organism responds to changes in fuel availability. The latter are mediated primarily by the hypothalamus and the autonomic nervous system and include modulation of substrate use by the carotid chemoreceptor reflex and alteration of tissue sensitivity to insulin. We will study the regulation of cardiac metabolism in two distinct experimental animal models: the crab-eating macaque (Macaca fascicularis) and the cat. The crab-eating macaque provides a closer approximation of humans than does the cat for studies of autonomic control, and has a broad array of noninvasive techniques for studying metabolism, neural function, and hemodynamics. The cat model will be used primarily for studies of substrate utilization by the heart. Both models are ideal for the study of the effects of hormones on substrate utilization by the heart. We will investigate the substrate utilization patterns and the hormonal responses to diet changes in conscious animals using an indwelling catheter inserted chronically into the carotid artery, and we will correlate these results with the energy demands imposed by the different feeding states. We have perfected techniques for non-invasively monitoring intracellular pH and lactate concentration in the human heart using dynamic 31-P MRS, and we plan to apply this technique to the study of substrate utilization in the normal and failing human heart. These results will be correlated with parameters of cardiac output, blood flow, oxygen consumption, and plasma lactate. Finally, the neural control of carbohydrate metabolism will be studied in the human heart by applying MRS to cardiac tissue taken at surgery, and the effect of various pharmacological agents on substrate utilization will be determined. The outcome of these studies will be a better understanding of the complex neural control of carbohydrate metabolism in the mammalian heart. This invention relates to a bottle holding device, and more particularly to a device which will hold a bottle against the surfaces of a refrigerator.
Refrigerators are commonly equipped with drawers or compartmentalized spaces within which foodstuffs may be stored. In many cases, refrigerators are located in or on a kitchen area in which one or more users may desire to have a ready supply of foodstuffs readily available. In most cases, such foodstuffs must be stored in a refrigerator for periods of time from hours to days, depending on the type of foodst 70238732e0 falidav
